Our story

Ever wanted to try that yoga class, but didn't want to go alone?

We get it. Because we've been there.

Ana had just moved to Zurich as an exchange student. New city, new university, new everything... except workout buddies. She'd scroll through gym schedules and running routes, but the thought of showing up solo kept her on the couch.

Noé loved trying new sports: rock climbing one week, kickboxing the next.

But constantly asking friends to join her latest obsession? Exhausting.

And going alone to a room full of strangers? Even more so.

When a marketing class project brought us together, the conversation quickly shifted from brand strategies to a question that had been nagging us both:

Why is it so hard for women to find a safe sports community for women in Zurich?

That question wouldn't let us go.

Workout

From class project to student community

What started as late-night brainstorming sessions turned into something bigger. We realized we weren't alone in feeling this way. Countless women across Zurich were all missing the same thing: a sports community where staying active didn't mean doing it alone.

So we built it.

SportBesties isn't just another meetup app. It's sports community we wish we'd had from day one. A women-only space where verified students from Zurich universities - UZH, ETH, ZHDK and ZHAW - can find their running partner, yoga buddy, or weekend adventure crew without the awkwardness, without the safety concerns, without the hesitation.

What we believe

We believe that movement is better together. That trying something new shouldn't require courage, just curiosity. That friendships can start with a simple "want to join me?"

We believe every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and celebrated in her fitness journey, whatever that looks like.

Today SportBesties has grown beyond Ana and Noé's university classroom, but the heart of it remains the same: making it incredibly easy for women studying in Zurich to move their bodies and make genuine connections. Because studying is more than just sitting in lecture halls all day long.

Because your next bestie might just be waiting on the other side of that workout you've been wanting to try.
